Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has transferred ₹600 crore as financial assistance to over 27,000 worker families under the Mukhyamantri Jan Kalyan (Sambal) Yojana through a single-click digital disbursement from Bhopal.
The initiative highlights the state government’s continued focus on strengthening social security for both organized and unorganized sector workers.
Inclusion of Gig Workers Under Social Security Net
In a significant policy expansion, the state has extended benefits of the Sambal scheme to gig and platform workers for the first time.
Over 3,529 gig workers, including those engaged in delivery and platform-based services, have now been included in the welfare scheme. The Chief Minister described this as an important step toward ensuring social security for all categories of workers.
₹600 Crore Direct Benefit Transfer to Worker Families
During the event held at the Mantralaya meeting hall, the Chief Minister transferred ₹600 crore to more than 27,000 eligible worker families.
Labour Minister Pralhad Singh Patel was also present during the ceremony along with senior officials, district administrators, and public representatives from various regions.
Introduction of ‘Labour Star Rating’ System
The state government also highlighted its innovative “Labour Star Rating” initiative aimed at improving workplace safety and worker welfare in industrial units.
Key features include:
- Evaluation of industries based on worker health and safety standards
- Recognition and rating of compliant companies
- Encouragement for better enforcement of labour laws
So far, 554 factories in the state have voluntarily adopted this system.
Call for Public Participation in Worker Welfare
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav urged citizens to support the initiative by preferring products and services from establishments that follow the Labour Star Rating system.
He emphasized that collective participation from citizens, industries, and labour organizations is essential for strengthening worker rights and welfare.
Expansion of Labour Welfare Programs in Madhya Pradesh
The Chief Minister also highlighted that:
- More than 1.83 crore workers are now registered under the Sambal scheme
- Over 8.27 lakh cases have been settled
- ₹7,720 crore has been disbursed in assistance so far
He directed officials to ensure faster and more efficient delivery of benefits across districts.
Focus on Labour Reforms and New Labour Codes
The state government announced that it will implement rules aligned with the Centre’s four new labour codes. These reforms aim to streamline labour laws and improve worker protections.
The Chief Minister reiterated that both state and central governments remain fully committed to expanding welfare schemes for workers.
