Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Union Minister for Communications Jyotiraditya Scindia jointly inaugurated the newly renovated and modernised Nehru Place Post Office. On the same occasion, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched a free annual health check-up initiative for workers, marking a major push toward improved public services and welfare.
A New-Generation Post Office with Modern Facilities
The upgraded Nehru Place Post Office has been redesigned with modern architecture, better customer service areas, and advanced infrastructure.
Speaking at the event, CM Rekha Gupta said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the postal department has transformed itself with technology and modern systems to better serve citizens.
She added that post offices are no longer limited to letters, but now function as comprehensive service centres offering:
- Banking services
- Insurance facilities
- Aadhaar services
- Passport-related services
- Parcel delivery and other citizen services
She said that with these integrated services, post offices have now effectively become Jan Seva Kendras (Public Service Centres).

Scindia Highlights Scale and Digital Transformation of India Post
Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said the new post office reflects modern design, improved customer interaction zones, and digital-first infrastructure.
He highlighted the massive scale of India Post operations, including:
- Around 75 crore parcels delivered annually
- Nearly 90 crore postal deliveries each year
- Over 2.12 crore passports issued through post office passport centres
- 13 crore customers linked with India Post Payments Bank in four years
- Around ₹23 lakh crore deposits in postal savings bank
He also noted the introduction of OTP-based delivery and SMS tracking systems to improve transparency and efficiency.
India Post as a Key Public Service Institution
Union Minister of State for Communications Chandrasekhar Pemmasani said that India Post is one of the most trusted institutions in the country.
He added that the department has moved beyond traditional postal services to play a key role in:
- Financial inclusion
- Governance support
- Citizen-centric digital services
Free Annual Health Check-up for Workers Launched
On the same occasion, Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya launched a free annual health check-up scheme for workers.
The initiative aims to ensure early detection of diseases and improve the overall health of the workforce. Under this scheme, workers will receive:
- Free yearly medical check-ups
- Preventive healthcare support
- Better access to timely treatment
This step is expected to improve worker productivity and overall well-being.
Leaders Emphasise Citizen-Centric Governance
Several dignitaries, including Minister of State Dr. Chandrasekhar Pemmasani and MLA Shikha Rai, attended the event.
Officials emphasised that the government’s focus is to bring technology-driven services and healthcare benefits to every citizen, especially at the grassroots level.

The inauguration of the modernised post office and the launch of the health scheme together reflect a broader push toward digital governance, improved public infrastructure, and stronger social welfare systems aimed at making services faster, more transparent, and more accessible.
