Jind (Haryana): Haryana has put in place an extensive multi-layered security arrangement ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Jind on July 17, deploying 15 IPS officers, over 50 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) and more than 5,000 police personnel to secure what is expected to be one of the biggest political and official events hosted by the district.
The heightened security comes as central and state agencies remain on high alert following an email threatening bomb blasts during the Prime Minister’s visit to Haryana and Punjab.
Massive Security Deployment Across Jind
Security personnel have been deployed across Jind, with barricades erected at strategic locations and senior police officers monitoring arrangements round the clock.
The elaborate security grid covers the Prime Minister’s travel route, the Jind railway station, the public rally venue and other key installations across the district.

According to officials, the deployment includes:
- 15 IPS officers
- More than 50 DSPs
- Over 5,000 police personnel
The arrangements are aimed at ensuring smooth conduct of the Prime Minister’s engagements and maintaining law and order throughout the visit.
Prime Minister to Flag Off India’s First Hydrogen Train
During the visit, Prime Minister Modi will flag off India’s first hydrogen-powered train from Jind Railway Junction.
He will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects before addressing a public rally at the HUDA Ground opposite Eklavya Stadium, scheduled to begin at 9 am.
The rally will also be telecast live on giant screens at various locations across Haryana.
BJP Launches Large-Scale Mobilisation
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has launched an extensive mobilisation campaign ahead of the event.
Around 500 party workers, divided into 38 teams, have been assigned responsibilities related to crowd management, logistics and coordination to facilitate the public gathering.
Meanwhile, roads, intersections and public spaces across Jind have been renovated and beautified ahead of the Prime Minister’s arrival.
Haryana Chief Principal Secretary Rajesh Khullar has been holding regular review meetings with senior officials to monitor preparations.
Chief Minister’s Media Coordinator Ashok Chhabra said the Prime Minister would first flag off the hydrogen-powered train before addressing the public meeting.
The event has also been planned as an environmentally friendly programme, with transportation arrangements relying largely on battery-operated and CNG-powered vehicles.
Security Heightened After Threat Email
Security agencies have further intensified vigilance after receiving an email purportedly sent on behalf of a group identifying itself as the “Khalistan National Army”, threatening attacks during the Prime Minister’s visit to Haryana and Punjab.
According to officials, the email claimed that improvised explosive device (IED) blasts would be carried out at schools, railway stations in Chandigarh and Jalandhar, as well as the Mohali Mayor’s office on July 17.
The email also allegedly threatened Union Minister of State for Railways Ravneet Singh Bittu.
Officials said the message contained references to Khalistan, farmers and slain human rights activist Jaswant Singh Khalra, while also expressing support for singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh, who portrayed Khalra in the film Satluj.
Security agencies are investigating the authenticity and origin of the email. Authorities have not confirmed the credibility of the threat but have significantly enhanced security measures as a precaution.
High Alert Across Haryana and Punjab
With the Prime Minister scheduled to visit Chandigarh, Punjab and Haryana on July 17, security agencies from both states, along with central agencies, are coordinating closely to ensure comprehensive security coverage throughout the visit.
Authorities have appealed to the public to cooperate with security personnel and follow traffic advisories during the Prime Minister’s engagements.
