Dehradun: The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, has approved financial and administrative sanctions worth ₹10.08 crore to accelerate development works across multiple districts of the state. The approved projects focus on strengthening religious tourism, improving road connectivity, and enhancing basic public infrastructure.
The initiatives are aimed at promoting regional development, improving public facilities, and boosting tourism in rural and semi-urban areas of Uttarakhand.
Focus on Religious Tourism and Temple Development
A major portion of the sanctioned funds has been allocated for the beautification, renovation, and master planning of several temples and pilgrimage sites across the state.
Key approvals include:
- ₹1.42 crore for the development of Shri Harichand Devta Temple under a master plan in Didihat, Pithoragarh
- ₹63.39 lakh for the beautification and construction work of Btkeshwar Temple and pilgrimage site in Kharkdesh Patti
- ₹81.43 lakh for a pedestrian path from Gram Uchhaidi to Nanda Temple up to Kholi Ban in Dharchula
- ₹53.51 lakh for development of Shiva Temple in Bhikiyasain, Salt constituency, Almora
- ₹98.25 lakh for beautification of ancient Gopeshwar Mahadev Temple, along with ghat and check dam construction in Someshwar
- ₹75 lakh for beautification of Shiv Temple in Gram Panchayat Dungarifartyal, Lohaghat
- ₹25 lakh for development of Maa Kardai Temple in Motyuraj village
These projects aim to preserve cultural heritage while enhancing spiritual tourism across the region.
Road Connectivity and Transport Infrastructure Upgrades
The government has also prioritized improving connectivity in remote and rural areas through road construction and upgradation projects.
Major approvals include:
- ₹70.87 lakh for construction of internal roads in Loharganv, Pithoragarh
- ₹95.66 lakh for blacktopping and improvement of Sankarsain–Barsila–Bagad motor road in Pauri district
- ₹46.19 lakh for construction of motor road up to BRC Kotli village
- ₹85.74 lakh to develop the Janki Bridge to Chauraasi Kutiya road in Yamkeshwar as “Beatles Street”
- ₹1.42 crore allocated for combined road-related development works in Pithoragarh and Dharchula regions
These initiatives are expected to significantly improve rural mobility and boost local economic activity.
Public Facilities and Rural Infrastructure Development
In addition to roads and temples, several public welfare and infrastructure projects have been approved:
- ₹87.95 lakh for construction of community dharamshalas in Kaidagaon Bug site (Olkanda block, Nainital) and Mauni Baba Ashram (Dhari)
- ₹42.98 lakh for installation of 50 hand pumps in multiple areas of Someshwar, Almora
- ₹39.99 lakh for repair, painting, and maintenance of Shri Guru Nanak Public Girls Inter College, Khurbura, Dehradun
These developments aim to improve basic amenities such as drinking water, education infrastructure, and accommodation facilities for visitors and pilgrims.
Government’s Vision for Balanced Regional Growth
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized that the state government is continuously working toward:
- Conservation and development of religious sites
- Strengthening infrastructure and road connectivity
- Expansion of public utilities and civic amenities
- Promotion of tourism at local and regional levels
He stated that these initiatives will not only enhance tourism potential but also ensure better facilities for citizens and accelerate overall regional development across Uttarakhand.
The approval of ₹10.08 crore worth of development projects marks another step by the Uttarakhand government toward integrated infrastructure growth.
