Dehradun: In a major relief to state employees and pensioners, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has approved a 2% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA), taking it from 58% to 60% with effect from January 1, 2026. The decision aligns with the Central Government’s DA revision and is expected to benefit lakhs of government employees and pensioners across the state.
DA Hike to Benefit Over 3.5 Lakh Employees and Pensioners
The revised DA will directly benefit more than 2 lakh government employees and around 1.5 lakh pensioners and family pensioners in Uttarakhand.

- Revised DA: 60%
- Effective Date: January 1, 2026
- Beneficiaries: Government employees, pensioners, and family pensioners
The increase will reflect in monthly salaries and pensions, offering financial relief amid rising inflation.
Arrears from January 2026 Expected
The state government has clarified that the revised DA will be effective retrospectively from January 1, 2026. Employees and pensioners will also be eligible for arrears from that date.
However, the exact timeline and procedure for arrear payment will be finalized after the official government order is issued by the Finance Department.
Employee Associations Welcome the Decision
Employee unions and pensioner associations have welcomed the announcement, stating that the DA hike will help offset the impact of inflation and rising living costs.
They expressed appreciation for the state government’s decision to provide timely relief to employees and retirees.
₹50 Crore Development Projects Also Approved
Along with the DA hike, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami also approved development projects worth approximately ₹50 crore aimed at improving infrastructure across Uttarakhand.
Key approvals include:
- ₹3.13 crore for construction of Type-II residences and boundary wall at Pancheshwar Kotwali in Champawat district
- ₹36.64 crore for residential quarters at Fire Station Haldwani in Nainital district (Type-II, III, and IV units)
- ₹3.47 crore for residential construction at Thana Reetha Sahib in Champawat district
- ₹5.91 crore for parking facility at Malkhan Bazaar, Almora
- ₹61.57 lakh for parking construction at Gwaldam Bazaar in Chamoli district
CM Dhami on Public Welfare and Infrastructure Growth
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that the initiatives aim to improve living conditions for government employees while also enhancing public infrastructure.
He added that modern parking facilities and housing projects will improve urban amenities, generate local employment, and support balanced regional development.
The government remains focused on ensuring timely completion of development projects and financial stability for employees and pensioners.
