Raipur: Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, the Chhattisgarh government is actively ensuring the timely availability and smooth distribution of fertilizers for farmers ahead of the Kharif 2026 season. The state has intensified monitoring across departments to maintain adequate stock, prevent black marketing, and ensure uninterrupted supply of agricultural inputs.
The Agriculture Department, Cooperation Department, MARKFED, and district administrations are jointly overseeing procurement, storage, and distribution across the state.
Strong Advance Planning Amid Global Supply Concerns
The government has taken proactive measures considering possible disruptions in global fertilizer supply due to geopolitical tensions in West Asia.

- Total available fertilizer stock in the state: 9.29 lakh metric tonnes
- Central government allocation for Kharif 2026: 15.55 lakh metric tonnes
This includes:
- Urea: 7.25 lakh MT
- DAP: 3 lakh MT
- MOP: 80,000 MT
- NPK: 2.5 lakh MT
- SSP: 2 lakh MT
Officials said this allocation will ensure stable supply across the state during peak demand.
Continuous Supply Through Rail Rakes and Warehouses
Several incoming fertilizer consignments are expected to strengthen availability:
- 6,600 MT of urea arriving at multiple rake points
- Key locations include Raipur (Tilda), Mahasamund (Belsonda), Raigarh (Kharsia), and Balod
District-level availability highlights:
- Garhchiroli: 17,818 MT fertilizer stock
- Bastar: 29,719 MT total availability (64% of target)
- Raipur: Over 9,100 MT urea in cooperative societies
- Dhamtari: 19,358 MT total stock available
District-Wise Distribution and Monitoring System
The government has ensured continuous monitoring in all districts:
- Regular supply tracking through cooperative societies
- Availability of fertilizers in MARKFED and private warehouses
- Immediate resolution of distribution issues
Key examples:
- Rajnandgaon: 42,997 MT available, 43% higher than last year
- Bilaspur: 41,560 MT stock available with continuous replenishment
- Koriya: 6,196 MT already distributed out of 12,150 MT target
Phased Fertilizer Distribution for Farmers
To ensure fair distribution based on landholding size:
- Small farmers (up to 2.5 acres): Full fertilizer allocation in one installment
- Medium farmers (2.5–5 acres): Distribution in two phases
- Large farmers (above 5 acres): Distribution in three installments
This system aims to ensure equitable access and prevent overuse or hoarding.
Action Against Irregularities and Black Marketing
The government has taken strict action against irregularities in fertilizer distribution.
- FIR registered against a cooperative society manager in Koriya district
- Departmental investigation initiated
- Strict action promised against hoarding and malpractice
Agriculture Minister Ram Vichar Netam stated that no misuse or irregularity in farmer welfare schemes will be tolerated.
Promotion of Nano Fertilizers and Balanced Nutrition
The state government is promoting modern farming techniques:
- Awareness campaigns for Nano Urea and Nano DAP
- Encouraging balanced nutrient management
- Reducing dependency on traditional chemical fertilizers
- Focus on lowering farming costs and improving soil health
Officials clarified that nano fertilizers are optional and provided based on farmer consent.
