Raipur: Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai on Saturday released the 29th instalment of the Mahtari Vandan Yojana, transferring ₹626.25 crore through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) to the bank accounts of more than 66 lakh women beneficiaries across the state.
The instalment was released from the Chief Minister’s Residence Office in Raipur in the presence of Women and Child Development Minister Lakshmi Rajwade.
The Chief Minister said the scheme has emerged as a major initiative for promoting women’s dignity, economic independence and self-reliance in Chhattisgarh.
₹18,805.83 Crore Disbursed Through 29 Instalments
CM Vishnu Deo Sai said that with the release of the latest instalment, the total amount transferred under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana has reached ₹18,805.83 crore.
The entire amount has been transferred directly into beneficiaries’ bank accounts through the DBT system, ensuring transparency and timely delivery of financial assistance.
He said the scheme has strengthened women’s participation in household and economic decision-making while providing regular financial support.

Mahtari Vandan Yojana Strengthening Women Empowerment
The Chief Minister said the scheme has become an important platform for women’s empowerment by supporting their financial needs and encouraging self-reliance.
He highlighted that the state government is continuously working to increase women’s economic participation and create opportunities for their growth.
CM Sai said many women across the state have shared their experiences of how the monthly assistance received under the scheme has brought positive changes to their lives.
Women Using Financial Assistance for Self-Employment and Family Needs
According to the Chief Minister, many beneficiaries have used the assistance amount to start small businesses and improve their livelihoods.
Women have also utilised the funds for activities such as:
- Tailoring and embroidery work
- Small-scale businesses
- Self-employment initiatives
- Children’s education expenses
- Healthcare needs
- Daily household requirements
He said these experiences demonstrate the social and economic impact of the scheme at the grassroots level.
Government Focuses on Women-Led Economic Growth
CM Vishnu Deo Sai said the state government is also promoting women’s financial independence through initiatives like Lakhpati Didi and other women-centric programmes.
He directed officials to complete the e-KYC process quickly so that all eligible women can continue receiving the benefits of the scheme.
Special priority has been given to completing the process in the Bastar division to ensure maximum coverage among eligible beneficiaries.
Scheme Launched in 2024 to Provide Monthly Financial Support
The Mahtari Vandan Yojana was implemented in Chhattisgarh from March 1, 2024.
Under the scheme, eligible married women aged 21 years and above receive financial assistance of ₹1,000 per month directly into their bank accounts.
The initiative aims to provide regular economic support to women while contributing towards:
- Better family nutrition
- Children’s education
- Improved healthcare access
- Reduction of malnutrition and anaemia
- Promotion of women-led livelihood activities
Supporting the Vision of Women Empowerment
CM Vishnu Deo Sai said the Chhattisgarh government is committed to strengthening women’s role in society and the economy.
He added that schemes like Mahtari Vandan Yojana are helping women become more financially independent and confident while contributing to the overall development of families and communities.
Through continued DBT-based support and women-focused initiatives, the state government aims to expand the reach of welfare programmes and ensure benefits reach every eligible beneficiary.
