Chandigarh: The Haryana government on Friday carried out a major administrative reshuffle in the police department, transferring 23 police officers, including nine Indian Police Service (IPS) officers and 14 Haryana Police Service (HPS) officers, with immediate effect.
The transfer orders, issued by Additional Chief Secretary Sudhir Rajpal, include several important appointments across the state, with senior IPS officer Arshinder Singh Chawla being entrusted with the additional responsibility of Director General (Prisons) following the central deputation of Alok Mittal.
The reshuffle is aimed at strengthening policing, administrative efficiency and leadership across various wings of the Haryana Police.
Arshinder Singh Chawla Given DG Prisons Charge
Arshinder Singh Chawla (IPS:1993), who is currently serving as Director General, State Vigilance and Anti-Corruption Bureau, has been assigned the additional charge of Director General (Prisons).
He succeeds Alok Mittal (IPS:1993), who has proceeded on central deputation after being appointed Director General, Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D) under the Union Ministry of Home Affairs in New Delhi.
Kala Ramachandran Gets Additional Responsibility
Senior IPS officer Kala Ramachandran (IPS:1993) has been given the additional charge of Director, Madhuban Forensic Science Laboratory.
She will continue to hold her existing responsibilities as:
- Director General of Police, Madhuban Complex.
- Director (Training), Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban.
Pankaj Nain Gets Additional Charge as Panchkula Police Commissioner
Pankaj Nain, who currently serves as:
- Special Officer (Community Policing and Outreach) in the Chief Minister’s Office,
- Inspector General (Security), CID Headquarters,
- Inspector General, Ambala Range,
has now been entrusted with the additional charge of Police Commissioner, Panchkula.
Key IPS Transfers
The reshuffle also includes the following important postings:
- Srishti Gupta has been transferred from Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Panchkula to Assistant Inspector General (Welfare), Police Headquarters, Panchkula. She will continue to hold the additional charge of Superintendent of Police, Haryana State Narcotics Control Bureau.
- Aditi Singh, who was serving as Superintendent of Police, State Vigilance Bureau, has been appointed Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Panchkula.
In total, four IPS officers have been entrusted with additional charges under the latest reshuffle.

- Praveen Malik → ACP, Gurugram
- Atma Ram → DSP, Haryana State Enforcement Directorate Headquarters
- Garima Devi → DSP, 1st IRB, Bhondsi
- Virendra Sharma → DSP, Rohtak
- Kanwaljit Singh → DSP, Hansi
- Gurvinder Singh → DSP, Kurukshetra
- Prithvi Singh → DSP, 4th IRB, Manesar
- One additional HPS officer was also transferred as part of the reshuffle, but the name and posting were not included in the information provided.
The Haryana government has also ordered the transfer and posting of 14 Haryana Police Service (HPS) officers.
Reshuffle Aims to Strengthen Policing
The latest transfers come as part of the Haryana government’s efforts to strengthen policing and improve administrative efficiency across the state.
