1988 batch IPS officer of Haryana cadre, Mr. Manoj Yadava, has been appointed as the new Director General (DG) of the Railway Protection Force (RPF). He will serve in his new posting till his retirement i.e. up to July 31, 2025.
Earlier, rhe Central Appointments Committee had approved the proposal of the Railway Board. Then, the Union government, on Wednesday, 19 July, issued the order of his appointment.
Mr. Yadava is currently serving as DG, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). He will replace incumbent Sanjay Chander, a 1987-batch IPS officer of West Bengal cadre who will retire on July 31.
Mr. Yadava has held many important posts in various capacities. He also worked for the Intelligence Bureau (IB) in 2003.
He was posted as the DG of Haryana in 2019. On 7 January 2021, Haryana govt extended his tenure till further orders. Then, he worked in the same capacity till August 16, 2021. He was replaced by incumbent Prashanta Kumar Agrawal, an IPS officer of the 1988 batch, on 16 August, 2021.
It is worth mentioning here that his appointment at the Centre has put an end to speculations about his return to Haryana. Significantly, the new DGP is to be selected in the month of August in Haryana.
Mr. Yadava originally belongs to Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. He has worked as SP in many districts of Haryana.
His elder son Aditya Vikram Yadav, who is a 2017-batch IAS officer of Assam cadre, had secured rank 72 in UPSC-2017 and is currently serving as the Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) Civil of Gohpur Sub-division. While his younger son Aniruddh Yadav has also cracked UPSC-2022 with AIR 8 and is currently going through his training at LBSNAA.
