Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren Orders Crackdown On Crime And Drugs To Strengthen Law And Order Statewide 

Focus on Missing Persons, Opium Cultivation Ban, Drug Networks and Strong Police Accountability to Ensure Safer Jharkhand

Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren has issued strict instructions to senior police officials to strengthen law and order in the state during a high-level video conferencing review meeting. The Chief Minister emphasized zero tolerance toward negligence in crime control and directed the police administration to remain fully alert and proactive.

The meeting focused on improving crime monitoring systems, speeding up action in sensitive cases, and taking strong measures against drug trafficking and organized crime.

Focus on Crime Control and Strict Monitoring

CM Hemant Soren instructed officials to identify major criminal cases and ensure continuous monitoring. He directed that law and order should be maintained at the highest priority level and any form of negligence will not be tolerated.

He also emphasized that ensuring a safe and fear-free environment for citizens is the government’s top priority, urging police departments to remain active and responsive at all times.

Priority Action on Missing Children and Women Cases

The Chief Minister ordered immediate and prioritized action in cases involving missing children and women. He stressed that such cases must be handled on a fast-track basis to ensure safe recovery at the earliest. Police officials were also asked to improve coordination among departments to speed up investigation and recovery efforts.

Crackdown on Drug Trafficking Networks

CM Soren directed a strict statewide campaign against drug trafficking networks. He said that the entire supply chain of narcotics must be dismantled through coordinated police action. Special focus was placed on increasing surveillance near schools, colleges, and other educational institutions to protect youth from drug abuse. Locations involved in illegal drug trade were directed to be identified and targeted for immediate legal action.

Ban on Opium Cultivation in Key Districts

The Chief Minister issued clear instructions to completely stop opium cultivation in Jharkhand, especially in districts such as Khunti, Chatra, and Ranchi. He also directed regular monitoring and awareness campaigns to discourage illegal cultivation and ensure strict enforcement against offenders.

Strong Action Against Organized Crime and Land Mafia

CM Soren emphasized strict action against organized crime in all forms. He assured full government support to the police for effective implementation of anti-crime measures.He also raised concern over rising land-related crimes in urban and semi-urban areas and instructed strong action against land mafias. Officials were warned not to provide any protection to illegal land activities.

Police Accountability and Public Engagement

The Chief Minister directed all senior police officers, including SPs, DSPs, and station in-charges, to remain present at their workplaces and maintain regular communication with the public. He also instructed them to conduct field inspections and surprise visits in both rural and urban areas to strengthen public trust in the police system.

Sensitivity in Custodial Cases

CM Soren made it clear that any incidents of custodial torture or deaths will be treated with utmost seriousness. He directed police personnel to act with sensitivity and follow proper legal procedures while handling detainees.

Senior Officials Present in Review Meeting

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Avinash Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Vandana Dadel, Director General of Police Tadasha Mishra, along with zonal IGs, DIGs, district SPs, and other senior officials.

Government’s Commitment to Strong Law and Order

The Jharkhand government reiterated its commitment to maintaining strong law and order across the state. The Chief Minister clearly stated that public safety remains the highest priority, and strict action will continue against crime, drug networks, and illegal activities.
