New Delhi: REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited (RECPDCL), a wholly owned subsidiary of REC Limited, has taken a major step towards promoting clean energy adoption in educational institutions by signing a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Gandhigram Rural Institute (GRI), Dindigul, Tamil Nadu.
Under the agreement signed on 13 July 2026, RECPDCL will establish a 1 MW (AC) ground-mounted, grid-connected Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Power Plant at the GRI campus. The project aims to help the institute achieve complete dependence on renewable energy for its electricity requirements.
Gandhigram Rural Institute to Become 100% Renewable Energy Powered
The upcoming solar power plant will enable Gandhigram Rural Institute to meet its entire electricity demand through green energy, making the campus a 100% renewable-powered institution.
The project will not only reduce dependence on conventional power sources but will also support the institute’s sustainability goals by lowering carbon emissions and promoting environmentally friendly energy solutions.
