Raipur: Chhattisgarh is witnessing a major push for water conservation, employment generation and green development under the Viksit Bharat Guarantee for Rozgar and Aajeevika Mission (Gramin) (VB-G RAM-G). Under the leadership of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and guidance of Deputy Chief Minister and Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Vijay Sharma, the state government is promoting large-scale natural resource management initiatives across rural areas.
Through the ‘Mor Gaon-Mor Pani’ (My Village, My Water) campaign, the government is transforming water conservation into a people’s movement by creating employment opportunities, developing water structures and strengthening groundwater resources.
Bardar Village Develops 52-Acre Integrated Water Conservation Model
A major example of this initiative is emerging in Bardar village of Khadgawan block in Manendragarh-Chirmiri-Bharatpur (MCB) district, where an integrated water conservation and green development model is being developed across 52 acres of land.
The project focuses on rainwater harvesting, groundwater recharge and plantation activities to create a sustainable ecosystem in the village.
The model includes:
- 30 acres dedicated to contour trenches and other water conservation works
- 22 acres allocated for plantation of around 2,000 fruit-bearing and other trees
These efforts aim to improve water availability, enhance agricultural productivity and promote environmental sustainability in the region.

He also participated in digging a contour trench himself to spread awareness about water conservation.
Addressing villagers, Jaiswal said water conservation is not only an immediate necessity but also a responsibility towards securing the future of coming generations. He urged people to actively participate in plantation and water conservation activities and turn them into a mass movement.
